Hello, everyone. This is Mai.

I am also surprised that April is coming tomorrow.
I met my friend in elementary school days yesterday, and we went to a new restaurant which be opened in Isetan. This restaurant is a Italian restaurant, and they serve a good pasta at this restaurant. However, the prices are little high... http://www.lavita-ebella.com/isetan_s/ so if you have a chance to go, please eat them at lunch time.
After we had dinner at this restaurant, we went to the cake shop and eat a strawberry cake

I had a great time. I could talk a lot of things with my friend.
I like to serch new shops, restaurant and so on.
Next time I want to a Jazz bar to listen to the music.

GHOST STORIES

Hi, I'm Saori.

Recently, I read 'GHOST STORIES', Oxford Bookworms Library. I tried to read level 5 book, and I read this book without dictionary, if possible. This book was easy to read because it has not so difficult new words.
I'll introduce it to you. This book consists of 6 short stories about ghosts.

In this book, dead men who can't be alive appeared in front of people. Some of them scared people or killed people; on the other hand, some dead men helped people who had a trouble.

I thought there are not only scary ghosts, but also kind ghosts. I knew that there are kind ghosts, however, I'll be afraid of ghosts if I meet them. I believe that ghosts exist because I experienced the horror a long time ago!!

Today is the last day in March!!! Spring vacation has only 10 more days!! I'm looking forward to meet everyone at edc 3 class♪♪♪ Let's enjoy the rest of our vacation~★~★~★~

Women in Business

Hello! This is Kahori.

Today is the last day of March!!
As everyone says, I can't believe that April is coming soon.

Anyway, today, I would like to introduce a book to you.
The title is "Women in Business".
This is a level 4 book of Penguin Readers.

The reason why I chose this book was that I thought that it should be fun for me because I'm hunting a job now.

As I expected, this book was very interesting!
Five women appears on this book who made success in business.

The most interesting story was about Anita Roddick.
Do you know this woman?
I didn't know her first, but I understood after reading the name of The Body Shop.
She founded this company.
She made cheap cosmetics for women, and these products were good for environment!
She was always thinking about environment and poor contries.

In this book, I found a sentence that I love.

"She believed that business was not just about making a profit and that companies should act in a responsible way towards society and towards the earth."

I recommend you to read this book!
I had felt nervous for working in future, but I thought positive after reading this book.

The cherry blossoms

Hello, everyone. This is Saori.

I went to Mishima yesterday. I went to Mishima Taisya ( Mishima shrine). It took about 20 minutes to get there from Mishima station on foot. This shrine is famous for the cherry blossoms. I wanted to go there, and I could finally visit there. (^^

It was sunny yesterday. And yesterday was holiday, so the shrine was crowded. Many people visited there and took pictures. I also took many pictures. The cherry blossoms were very beautiful, and I was very impressed by them!! The cherry blossoms are at their best now!!

There were some stalls such as yakisoba and okonomiyaki. I ate okonomiyaki under the cherry tree. It tasted good

I could also saw Mt. Fuji capped with snow!! It was so big and beautiful.

Another Kyoto Traveler

Hi everyone, this is Ryosuke.
As some people already gone, I also went to Kyoto.
I only had short time. I couldn't travel many places, but it was enough to satisfy.
Especially the trail course of Kyoto was a little adventure for me.

When I tried to head toward to Kiyomizu temple from Awata shrine.I realized that I was passing through a real mountain climbing course when I almost got lost in a deep forest.
It had so less details of direction.
I just keeped trying not to lose the passage by following the area only covered with dirt.
That was the only way for me to get there.

However when I reached the top area of the mountain I found a hill called Shougunn tomb. That place had a high ground area where you can have a nice view of Kyoto city. If you want to have a challenge by travelling Kyoto, I suggest finding Shougunn tomb is worth it.

Well, you just need a little stamina to reach there, because after the reward of a nice view, I ended up with having a muscular pain.

Hello! This is Kahori writing.
I enjoyed reading your post that is about spring vacation, but I'm sorry that I didn' t post recently;_;

Today, I'll tell you about
one of my holidays

The end of February, I met two friends when I was a high-school student.
We used to play basketball together in the same school team, so we are very good friends.
Now, one girl works as a teacher in a preschool and another girl studies English in Korea.

At first, we had a lunch at Itarian restaurant in Kakegawa.
This is the first time for me, but it was very nice restaurant.
The master is energetic, and pasta or pizza tasted good!
We really enjoyed eating and also talking about love, work and school....a lot of things!!!

After that, we went to a car shop in Hamamatsu.
That is MINI Hamamatsu. Do you know "MINI"?
I LOVE the car and I WANT in the future!

I got pamphlets and had a trial run of the car!
I felt very nervous because I didn't have a confidence in my ability.
However, one of the staffs was very kind and trusted me, so I could drive safely.

This is a video of the car that I rode.
Clubman just debuted in this March in Japan!

concert♪

Hi. I'm Miki.

Yesterday, I went to a subscription concert of my high school brass band. I graduated from the band 3 years ago.

The concert was great! High school students looked much younger and more energetic than me. They danced, jumped and played the instrumental at the same time. I couldn't believe I did same just 3 years ago... There were no member and teacher who I know, but I yearned for my high school days.

I went there with my friends of high school. We can't see so often now, so I was very glad to talk with them. After the concert, we went to a hamburger steak restaurant 'Sawayaka'. Some of my friends live in other prefectures now, and they really missed the taste of the restaurant. It was funny for me. They taught me some dialects they found. I had really nice time☆

Love Actually

Hello, everyone! This is Miki writing.
Do you enjoy your vacation?

Recently I read 'Love Actually', and I'll introduce it to you. This book is level4 of Penguin Readers.

'Love Actually' is shortening of 'love actually is all around us...' How romantic it is! The scene of this story is Christmas in London. This story shows many kind of love such as prime minister and the secretary, husband and wife, sister and brother, a singer and the manager and so on. One of the most interesting part of this story is these love stories are happening at the same time and 19 of each character are relating by piecemeal.

Have you ever seen this movie? Many famous actors and actress such as Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman and Keira Knightley appear in this movie. I saw it few years ago, so it wasn't so difficult to read this book. I thought I feel like seeing this movie again!

This is the trailer. Check it

This book became a famous movie "Stand by me". Maybe you knew this movie. I knew Stephan King who is famous as the horror author, but I didn't know he wrote this book.

This novel describes the friendship of four boys through the adventure. I like the story of this novel. I have watched "Stand by me", so it is not difficult to read this novel. If you have chance to watch "Stand by me", please see it! The song of this movie is great, too.
This is the trailer. Please check it!!

MY RECENT FAVORITE!

Hi, everyone! I'm Eiko.
I am sorry that I didnt post last month.
I am very happy because your blogs tell me you really enjyoing vacation

Today, let me introduce my recent favorite!

That is...the CLASSICAL CAMERA.
A friend of mine in same major teaches me everything about camera.
Surprisingly, there is 3 classical cameras in my house, I really have intersts in it.
This camera, in the picture, is called "Hanako" , and others were named "Kojiro" and "Yojiro". I named all.

Are there anyone who
think only digital camera is enough, aren't you?
That is completely different. The friend said to me, "Picture with digital camera is not picture. That is one of data. Only classical camera can take a real picture."
I'm really moved to his saying, and that made me much active about camera.

I am very looking forward to taking you with my camera

CATS

Hello, everyone. This is Miki.

Do you remember I told you that I like musical? I went to Tokyo to see a musical show again. This time I saw a musical 'CATS'. It's also performed by the Japanese musical company, gekidanshiki.

I like this musical♪ Especially, the dance is great! Actors looked like real cats.

Songs are really good, too. A famous song 'Memory' was so beautiful.

Fortunately, I could get a nice seat which is in front of an aisle. Actors passed the aisle few times and shook hand with me! I was so surprised and happy.

This musical started in London, but also famous in Broadway and all over the world.

If you want to know more about CATS, please check the official site of CATS. This is a site of UK version.

St. Patrick's Day is coming

Hello everyone,

I have enjoyed reading your posts. It looks like everyone is enjoying spring vacation. I can't believe it is already March. Time to start planning for the next semester.

Next semester we will read a book by a famous Irish writer. Does anyone know anything about Irish culture? We will learn about it in EDC 3, but here is a preview. March 17 is St. Patrick's Day. Many Irish people enjoy celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a parade, music, dancing, eating and drinking, and wearing something green. I have included a clip of some Irish dancing from a show called Riverdance. I saw this show many years ago in Boston. It was thrilling. I hope you enjoy it. Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Mark

PS:

Because April will be here soon, I just wanted to check with the EDC 3 students about books. First of all, the last book on our list has been changed to another book. We will not read the Surgeon of Crowthorne (do not buy it); instead, we will read the Pelican Brief by John Grisham. It is a level 5 Penguin Reader; I have attached an image of it from Amazon Japan.

Our class reading list is now: Evening Class; Teacher Man; Pelican Brief.
Please let me know if you are able to order these books yourself or if you need me to order them. You can send me a message via English Expeditions or via SUAC mail. I need to know soon because it may take some time for Teacher Man to arrive.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
